UK eSports is a strange spectacle, but at times it can be quite beautiful.
There was a moment during last week’s ESL UK Overwatch Community Cup that demonstrated this.
UK caster Ceirnan “Excoundrel” Lowe promised a WWE-style intro on Twitter – and he delivered it on stream with aplomb.
The announcement introduced the match between UK teams Royal Plebs and Winston’s Peanut Butter Factory. Not only that, but Excoundrel delivered it while casting from an iPad – because the other PC available to him at the time didn’t have a microphone.
So, to summarise: Winton’s Peanut Butter Factory vs Royal Plebs. A WWE intro. Casted from an iPad.
A lot is said about UK eSports, but you’re probably not going to get that kind of entertainment anywhere else.
You can check out the video (including the full match – and a Play of the Game by streamer Mark “Valkia” Purdy) below:
ESL is hosting UK Overwatch community cups each Wednesday on the UK Overwatch and ESL UK Twitch channels.
