Facilitating discussion among industry giants
The Esports Leaders London schedule holds a strong focus on discussion. Demonstrated by the wealth of roundtable discussions compared to main-stage talks, the event aims to facilitate the sharing of insights, debate of challenges, and collaboration.
Esports is currently facing significant challenges in growth and development.
Despite efforts by bodies such as the London Mayoral Office, there are questions about whether these external organisations have the necessary expertise to support and encourage success in esports effectively.
In Esports News UK’s interview with London’s Deputy Mayor for Business, questions were raised as to whether the Mayoral Office really understands its esports policy.
It was a pleasure to speak to a rep for the London Mayoral Office about London esports support.

However, the interview exposed a lack of understanding accompanying ambition.

The Esports Leaders London event appears to offer opportunities to bridge the gaps in knowledge and understanding between esports and other industries.
Currently, their publicised attendees include prominent esports organisations, including ESL FACEIT Group, Tencent Games, BLAST, GeoGuessr, Team Liquid, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Fnatic, and G2 Esports.
Alongside these esports brands are attendees from aligned hospitality, sport, and technology sectors. Included are The Premier League, SPORTFIVE, Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, X (Twitter), Express VPN, and the Allianz Stadium.
Hopefully, multi-industry collaboration and discussion will help create a more seamless and coordinated esports growth strategy between companies moving forward.
Why do events like Esports Leaders London matter in overcoming the Esports Winter?
Toward the end of 2023, “the Esports Winter” became a more popularised term for the state of the industry. Widespread layoffs and financial strife defined much of that year. Shifts in the industry post-pandemic also seemed to have a strong impact.
By early 2024, “the Esports Winter” was generally accepted to be in effect.
Crucial to moving forward is collaboration and communication.
Following continued losses to the UK esports community in 2025, including the high-profile collapse of Guild Esports, which left many unpaid, there is a need for change.
What they've actually done is to exploit a ton of women in gaming – I've not had a single invoice from this year paid, and they had a non-compete clause for their sponsor Sky Broadband for the five month period that I hosted for them, blocking me from actually making money. https://t.co/O7wcmOdjvC

Examining collaborative opportunities, like those scheduled to be explored at Esports Leaders London, hopefully form part of the path towards stability.
A better understanding of the wishes and requirements across esports, traditional sports, and hospitality can hopefully present a more harmonious future, where businesses better understand how the challenges of their respective industries interact and are overcome.
Esports Leaders London takes place on October 3rd, 2025. With such high-profile attendees, perhaps new paths can be forged forward for the industry as a result.
