EA’s Battlefield REDSEC Elite Series has been postponed after the first weekend of competition.
The decision follows EA’s postponement of the REDSEC Open Series earlier the same week.
Why has the REDSEC Elite Series been postponed?
When EA delayed the Battlefield REDSEC Open Series to 2026 on December 8th, they advertised that the REDSEC Elite Series would still go ahead as planned.
However, the day after the Elite Series’ inaugural game day, EA has revised that decision.
In a statement online, EA explained that “After a thorough review, due to an unforeseen technical issue that impacted the integrity of the competition, we’ve made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone the Battlefield REDSEC Elite Series in all regions.”

The delay of the REDSEC Open Series appeared to point toward an issue with the Gauntlet game mode. Initially, the REDSEC Elite Series was still predicted to be unaffected by the Open Series delay, despite an “in-game issue” being to blame.
Given that the Elite Series ran a different version of the Gauntlet game mode but the same Battle Royale mode as the Open Series, this suggested that the in-game issue lay specifically in Gauntlet.
Now that the Elite Series is also set back, it is unclear whether the two issues are linked or each series is being affected by different problems.
Some posts from Elite Series players mention game crashes, audio issues, input problems, fps fluctuations, and server-side issues. Technical difficulties also prevented the EMEA region’s last Gauntlet mode match from being played.
The fact that I thought that accepting to play in BF6 Elite Series was a good idea and that everything will remotely go according to the plan really makes me question my IQ.

Issues with crashing, audio, input, UI, netcode and whatever server sided spaghetti code issues as well.
Despite a lack of an official explanation for the issues delaying both series, EA has been praised for its transparency and quick action to ensure competitive integrity.
Nevertheless, questions remain about how both the REDSEC Elite and Open Series will proceed once they are restarted. These questions include whether Elite Series teams will retain their slots or be allowed to reform.
Disappointed, but ultimately the right call given the circumstances.

Respect to the Admins trying their best to make good on the hand they were dealt (out of their control). The gameplay + spectating experience has *SO* much potential.

When will Battlefield’s Elite and Open Series return?
EA’s Battlefield REDSEC team has stressed that they are still “fully committed” to creating a “built to last” ecosystem. Nevertheless, they have yet to fully explain what needs to be rectified or when the ecosystem will return.
When delaying the Open Series, they only stated that the tournament series would return in 2026 There is no further indication as to when.
They have also offered no timescale for rectifying issues within the REDSEC Elite Series. Unfortunately, their post online clarifies that no further updates will be shared until the new year.
With some players becoming frustrated and theorising why the competitive circuit appeared to crash on entry, many will be looking for a more in-depth explanation for the delays when updates arrive.
With the Elite Series for Battlefield being postponed, this confirms all my "speculation" and "rumours" from last year:

- This game was not meant to be released this year.
- They are doing way too many things at once, especially when they are already doing catch up.
Rough
REDSEC’s competitive circuit launched very quickly after the game’s release.
Battlefield REDSEC dropped in late October. By late November, EA launched the official Battlefield REDSEC esports debut. Players were preparing for their early December start dates.
It is possible that more time was needed to iron out the game before a competitive circuit could thrive.
Now, competitors must wait for 2026 to move forward with their Battlefield esports aspirations.
