Esports organisation ENVY have announced it is pausing its operations in Marvel Rivals for the upcoming season.
Marvel Rivals’ first official esports season recently came to an end as Virtus.pro were crowned the first-ever Marvel Rivals Ignite champions at DreamHack Atlanta.
Now, ENVY and various other teams are dropping out of competitive Marvel Rivals with questions over the future of the esport.

Earlier this month, ENVY parted ways with its Halo team, which had a top-three finish at Worlds.
Now, the North American organisation has announced it is also stepping away from Marvel Rivals in the following statement:
“Today we’re announcing that we will be pausing our competitive operations in Marvel Rivals.
“We’re incredibly proud of the effort and passion our roster brough to the game, and grateful for what we were able to build together during our time in the scene.”
However, this is only a pause and not a definite exit as the organisation claimed:
“As the Marvel Rivals competitive ecosystem develops, we hope to see the return of ENVY Rivals.”
All of ENVY’s players are now free agents after finishing as runners-up at the Ignite Mid Season Finals and Ignite Stage 2 in North America.

NetEase’s head of Marvel Rivals esports, Binky Tsang, has joined Twitter to announce that the plan for the game’s 2026 competitive season will be revealed soon.
However, the future of Marvel Rivals’ esports scene is in doubt with various teams dropping out.
As well as ENVY, two other major North American organisations have also quit the esport in Sentinels and 100 Thieves.
And former Sentinels player Chassidy ‘aramori’ Kaye has pleaded with NetEase to help teams:
“The three biggest orgs in North America Rivals esports just backed out. NetEase, you gotta do SOMETHING to give the orgs a reason to stay.”

When asked what NetEase could do, aramori replied:
“Team bundles, in-game cosmetics, a league for orgs… right now there’s nothing except the prizepool, which is mostly eaten up by players.”
While Marvel Rivals tournaments offered huge sums of prize money with over $3 million (£1.6m) for Ignite, the events didn’t attract good viewership.
The Marvel Rivals Ignite Grand Finals only drew in a peak viewership of around 78k according to Esports Charts.
The peak audience for Marvel Rivals esports was the North American Stage 1 final which drew in a little over 85k viewers.
