Following an internal investigation, Karmine Corp has determined that Assistant Coach Žiga ‘Apples’ Jereb breached the company’s ethical standards after allegations surfaced of professional and sexual misconduct.

The coach has been relieved of their duties within the organisation, effective immediately.

What did Apples do?

Karmine Corp’s assistant coach for their LEC League of Legends team was suspended for alleged professional misconduct, sexual misconduct, and emotional manipulation towards the alleged victims.

The suspension and launch of an internal investigation was confirmed by Karmine Corp on September 28th.

Included in these screenshots were messages showing Apples allegedly attempting to leverage his position to date female fans.

According to one comment, the alleged victims have been waiting for his actions to be exposed “for years.”

After the revelation of sexual misconduct allegations, it was also alleged that Apples engaged in career sabotage attempts and match fixing/taking advantage of insider industry knowledge for betting.

Karmine Corp’s internal investigation of Apples

In Karmine Corp’s post announcing the suspension of Apples on September 28th, they confirmed that they had launched an internal investigation as soon as the first screenshots were posted online.

However, only four days later, they appear to have concluded.

Karmine Corp’s official X (Twitter) account posted an update on October 2nd. It stated: “Following an internal investigation, the club has decided to dismiss the individual concerned from their duties with immediate effect.”

They specified that this was due to non-compliance with the organisation’s ethical standards.

This conclusion suggests that the organisation found Apples responsible for at least some of the allegations raised. It is unknown as to which allegations they determined were well-evidenced enough for dismissal.

What does Karmine Corp need to do next?

Since announcing Apples’ removal, Karmine Corp has not clarified their next steps.

Although fans are satisfied that a conclusion has been reached, the investigation was incredibly short. Some questions have been left unanswered.

In a livestream, Karmine Corp CEO Kamel ‘Kameto’ Kebir addressed the unfolding situation. During this discussion, he admitted that some within the organisation had prior knowledge of Apples’ actions. He also acknowledged a need for better background checks.

However, none of this information has been raised in the organisation’s official statements.

Unsurprisingly, fans have immediately flagged this issue.

Commenters questioned whether those who were aware of the situation had also been sanctioned.

Others expressed hope that the internal investigation continues, rather than concluding after such a short period of time.

Karmine Corp’s rapid launch of an internal investigation can be praised. However, many believe the process should not end so soon.

Fans believe that, given the severity of these allegations, the full extent of unethical behaviour and the actions of those allegedly involved in protecting it must be uncovered.

Karmine Corp has been approached for comment by Esports News UK. This article will be updated if a response is received.
