LFT, LFO, LF1… decoding Apex pro’s rostermania lingo
For those new to the game, understanding the language used during roster season can be challenging. Abbreviations are often used to describe what players are looking for and their respective status.
One of the core motivations for roster changes is CP, also known as Championship Points. Players hold individual CP, so by changing teams, they can increase the number of CP they have between. CPs are crucial to qualifying for the Year 5 ALGS Championship in Sapporo, Japan.
“FA” stands for “Free Agent.” This is when players are released from their contract or roster and typically seek a new team to join. They are free to explore their options and participate in trial periods with new teams. FA can also be used to refer to players who are competing in a team, but the team is not signed to an organisation.
“LFT” is one of the most frequently used abbreviations. This phrase stands for “Looking For Team.” It is most commonly used by FA players and coaches seeking a new roster to sign with.
“LFO” means that a full roster (usually three players and a coach) is looking for an organisation to represent. Organisations are official companies that a team can sign to, such as TSM, Team Liquid, Alliance, or VK Gaming. Unsigned players will typically seek an organisation to represent, as it helps with self-promotion and can provide consistent salaries.
“LF1” is a term used when two players are seeking a third player to complete their team. In Apex Legends, three players must compete on each team. Players posting that they are LF1 are usually looking to have FA players try out on their team before joining the roster.
