The Esports Awards has announced the return of its esports-focused award ceremony, celebrating its tenth anniversary with ‘The Decade Awards’.
The Decade Awards will celebrate the most iconic figures, teams and moments that have defined the last ten years of esports, according to The Esports Awards.
Notable British nominees include Marc ‘Caedrel’ Lamont, Alex ‘Machine’ Richardson, Esports Insider, and Fnatic
What are ‘The Decade Awards’?
This year will see The Esports Awards transform into The Decade Awards as part of its tenth anniversary, having launched in 2015.
Celebrating the best in esports from the past decade, including previous winners and new faces.
The special, one-off edition looks to recognise not only individual performances but also those who have demonstrated long-term impact in esports.
The ceremony will bestow winners with the award title ‘of the Decade’, rather than the usual ‘of the Year’.
The event will be held alongside the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as the ‘Summer of Celebration’.
The Summer of Celebration will host a variety of events around esports, including the Esports Awards and Esports World Cup.
This increasingly overt connection to the Esports World Cup, its connection to the Saudi investment fund, has caused concerns about the awards’ legitimacy.
Adding to the continued accusation of the Saudi Arabian government using esports-washing to cover their poor human rights record.
Fans will be able to vote and have their say from June 13th onwards and are able to vote for their favourite finalist every day until August 11th.
2025 is set to be a monumental year with the Decade Awards, celebrating the last ten years of esports and competitive success.
Mike Ashford, CEO of the Esports Awards
It’s a privilege to be partnering once again with the Esports World Cup to celebrate the most prestigious night in the Esports calendar
We’re excited to showcase the Summer of Celebration and highlight the triumphs of our beloved esports community and beyond.
