Red Bull Tetris set to take to the sky

In celebration of World Tetris Day, the iconic puzzle game is heading to new heights with energy drink brand Red Bull in a new tournament called Red Bull Tetris.

The global tournament launches today as global qualifiers open for players of all skill levels who are over 18 years old.

The grand final will take place from December 11th to 13th this year in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where the final game will be played with over 2,000 airborne drones inside the legendary Dubai Frame.

What is Red Bull Tetris?

Selling more than 520 million copies over multiple versions, Tetris is an iconic video game influenced generations for more than 40 years.

Created in 1984, the brand continues to be loved globally by people across the globe in a one-of-a-kind, multi-generational game. This led to Tetris becoming one of the most distinctive video game franchises in the world.

In a new twist to the classic formula, Red Bull Tetris will introduce special power-ups to alter the playing field with a unique Golden Tetrimino and fast-paced rounds.

With dynamic mechanics, including gravity shifts and speed boosts, every game is set to bring a fresh new experience to fans as qualifiers to participate in Red Bull Tetris kicks off today.

Red Bull Tetris seeks to find the most versatile player through a journey across different platforms and advance from Qualifiers to National Finals.

How to qualify for Red Bull Tetris

Registration for the Global Qualifiers are now open, where competitors can put their skills to the test on the official Tetris mobile app.

The best scoring players will then be invited to go head-to-head on PC, in intense 1v1s at the in-person National Finals.

This means that players will have to display their expertise on both mobile and PC platforms in order to progress further through the tournament.

The winner of the National Finals will gear up for the ultimate Tetris showdown at the Red Bull Tetris World Final in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from December 11th to 13th.

The World Final spans three unforgettable days across the desert and city, blending immersive experiences, music performances, and special guest appearances.

The best players from across the world will compete to determine their placement in the Global Tournament.

The final few players once again go head-to-head until only the best-of-the-best remain.

The final game will feature the first official live playable Tetris game brought to life using over 2,000 synchronised drones.

All set against the stunning backdrop of the Dubai Frame in a captivating gaming spectacle.
