Season 2 (2025) of League of Legends is underway as Patch 25.09 was released earlier today. But along with a huge list of changes in one of the biggest updates of the year, Riot Games has also accidentally implemented a devastating bug that could ruin any player’s experience.
For some unexplainable reason, LoL players can now sell their recall button and permanently remove their ability to recall for the rest of the game. While the newly added Spirit Blossom theme for Summoner’s Rift looks wonderful, this is not the best way to get LoL players to take their time exploring the map and appreciate all of the Riot Games artists’ fantastic work.
This new, hysterical glitch was spotlighted by content creator and LoL’s very own bug catcher, Vandiril who has over 1 million YouTube subscribers. As highlighted in his video, by simply right-clicking the recall button the ability and its artwork immediately disappear from the player’s HUD and there is no way to get it back. Pressing B to back no longer does anything. You can’t search for recall in the item shop to then buy it again. Even if you sell the recall while in base, while it does highlight the undo button, that button doesn’t do anything, and your recall still remains disabled.
Vandiril sarcastically titled the video “Riot is finally adding something AMAZING!” and yet the top comment was still left surprised and bemused by the glitch, saying: “When I clicked this video I expected anything but this if I’m fully honest.” Impressively, this seems to be an entirely new bug that LoL hasn’t seen in its 16-year history.
The bug is already plaguing games, including that of Australian Twitch streamer Drew “Midbeast” Timbs who was already having a torrid time as a 0/6/1 Sion before he listened to chat, sold his recall, and then proceeded to start screaming. One of his teammates even commented in the in-game chat to claim that Sion (Midbeast) was ‘inting’ (intentionally feeding) and the jungling Ivern should gank bot instead.
But how much is recalling in League of Legends worth? You might think that the ability to quickly teleport to fountain so you can buy items and restore all of your health and mana is priceless. Well, Riot seemingly agrees as the bug doesn’t reward players with any gold. No, we sadly won’t be seeing any bold LEC players sell their recall for a quick cash injection anytime soon.
The community are now theorising that this has something to do with the fact that very early into the game’s lifespan, recalling did require an item called the Blue Pill. It’s possible that in the coding, every player now has a permanent Blue Pill and something in the new update caused this item to be sellable.
Currently at the time of writing, Riot Games hasn’t released a comment or in-game warning about this bug but it surely won’t take them long to address it. Especially with how this can completely ruin people’s games. Press D to Dance just gained a new rival for the cruellest prank players can pull in all chat.
