Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software – with offices in Scotland – says GTA 6 will ‘push the limits of what’s possible’ as an impressive first trailer has dropped.

We don’t really do trailer news here at Esports News UK, but after ten years waiting for a new GTA game, and noting the quality of this video, we’re making an exception here.

Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games, said:

“Grand Theft Auto VI continues our efforts to push the limits of what’s possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world experiences.”

“We’re thrilled to be able to share this new vision with players everywhere.”

GTA 6 heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond, in what Rockstar says will be ‘the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet’.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary in December, Rockstar Games moved its top-down GTA games to an open world with the launch of Grand Theft Auto III in 2001. With each successive entry in the series including Grand Theft: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and Grand Theft Auto IV, GTA has become one of the biggest selling, most critically acclaimed and influential properties in all of modern entertainment.

The most recent iteration in the series, Grand Theft Auto V, has sold over 190m units to date. Rockstar Games’ similar wild west series, Red Dead Redemption, has also sold over 81m units worldwide to date.

GTA 6 RP

GTA 6 RP has not yet been announced. But you can expect the game to have some sort of mode like this given the popularity of GTA 5 RP, especially with steamers on livestreaming platforms like Twitch.

Scam and security warnings issued around fake GTA 6 download links

As the trailer for the long-awaited Grand Theft Auto 6 emerges online, cybersecurity experts at NordVPN have urged fans of the series to be extra vigilant about anything they see online regarding the game.

Bad actors are trying to tempt fans with fake download links promising a “free”, “leaked,” or “trial” version of a game, but these can be infected with malware. To protect yourself, it’s obvious to note to only download games from official sites and platforms. GTA 6 won’t be released for a while, so any links to demos of the game are of course false.

Marijus Briedis, CTO at cybersecurity experts NordVPN, said: “The gaming community has been waiting for Grand Theft Auto 6 for a decade now, so it is only natural that fans will try to get at least a trial version as soon as possible. Unfortunately, curiosity and impatience open new opportunities for cybercriminals.

“Even though GTA 6 is still under development, and creators promise to release it in 2025, the internet is full of links promising the possibility to download the game. Once clicked, these links are likely to infect your device with some form of malware. Usually, these types of malware can be used to track you or steal personal data, banking credentials, or your identity. These malicious files can hide on a computer for a long time and do their job without visible harm.”
