A look back on the League of Legends community evening

Insomnia Gaming Festival held a League of Legends community evening last month at i71 – it was Riot’s first official dedicated LoL event at Insomnia since League Fest a few years ago.
Esports News UK editor Dom Sacco checked it out – watch his vlog above and read about it (plus what Riot Games Northern Europe had to say) below.

The League of Legends community evening attracted several hundred fans in the BYOC gaming LAN hall last month, and featured activities like a sapling toss, ARAM activities, a scavenger hunt, a ‘have you ever’ challenge, League of Legends quiz, merch giveaways and more.

The vibe was generally fun, chill and open, and it was nice to see Riot hosting a League event in the UK again.

Riot Games also held a similar Valorant community evening at Insomnia 71 too, announced alongside the LoL one a few months ago.

Check out what happened when ENUK editor Dom Sacco attended above, featuring special guests such as casters Munchables, GreyHart, Temporal, cosplayer Sakuraflor, Hotdrop’s Nathan Edmonds and many, many more.

Riot on the i71 League of Legends community evening and whether more may events be on the way…

Ahead of the event, Esports News UK asked Riot about the League of Legends community evening and what it hoped to achieve with it.

Riot Games Northern Europe said: “We always love being where our community is and Insomnia is the perfect place for us to gather and allow our biggest fans to enjoy the games they love so much – and for Riot Games to bring a few surprises as well.

“We hope players have a good time, got to enjoy League of Legends and Valorant with the rest of the community and win a few prizes for their efforts. If you’ve not had a chance to interact with the community at large, then come along and meet some like-minded players, join up with our new UKEL community – or The Goose House – and find some people to start your climb up the ladder with!

“We are so excited to be at Insomnia this year to connect with our League of Legends and Valorant players and create a gathering place for these communities.

“We can’t make any promises here about anything for the future, but hopefully those that turned up had a great time. Let us know what you would like to see in the future and events we should support!”

When asked about Riot’s views on physical events in the UK and if there are others in the works beyond the League of Legends community evening, Riot added: “I mean who doesn’t love live events?! MSI was amazing, we had the Beacon finals at the Red Bull Gaming Sphere in London.

“Riot Games has built a strong culture around live events – all the way from EpicLAN, NUEL Live and local event finals to Insomnia.

“We can’t make any promises here about anything for the future, but hopefully those that turned up had a great time. Let us know what you would like to see in the future and events we should support!”
