Five Big Video Games of 2022
The gaming industry has produced some exceptional games this year. We’ve seen big names like Sony, Namco and many others release some of their most anticipated games.
Gaming in the gambling industry also witnessed a massive boost in 2022 and has generated billions in revenue, separate to the video games industry. Mega iGaming company, Pragmatic Play, saw titles like Dragon Kingdom and A Dog’s House Megaways released this year, providing experiences for potentially millions of gamblers around the world.
But despite the dozens of big video game titles that have been released, some have proven to be more exceptional than others. Here are our top five video games of 2022.
Elden Ring
From the developers of the beloved Sekiro, Dark Souls, and Bloodborne game series comes the amazing immense open-world game titled Elden Ring. As you would expect from most FromSoftware productions, Elden Ring offers lots of adventure, a fascinating universe, super difficult bosses, and so many secrets.
Players really enjoyed Elden Ring and its amazing game map. It has the richness of GTA’s Los Santos map and offers an Assassin’s Creed-esque open world to explore, not to mention many character journeys.
Elden Ring also boasts one of the most immersive game environments in recent years. The attention to detail is something the gaming industry has been desperately yearning for. FromSoftware’s Elden Ring is available on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One and PC.
Diablo Immortal
Since the moment Blizzard announced the release date for the mobile version of their hit franchise, Diablo Immortal, along with a PC release, it was looking like 2022 would be a good year for video games. June came, but some were disappointed. While Diablo Immortal came with fun gameplay and the ability to level up and grind characters as always, plus a storyline that filled the plot gap between the Diablo II and Diablo III games, some weren’t happy with its payment models.
Though Blizzard received criticism for its heavy reliance on microtransactions, Diablo Immortal was praised for its immersive MMORPG style elements, gameplay and missions. Despite the criticism, Diablo Immortal is currently one of the most successful mobile games of the year and enjoyed the most successful launch for any Diablo game. It’s available on Android, iOS and Windows PC.
Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves
This year, the Uncharted franchise has been in the news for several reasons. While some were good, others were a bit meh.
Fans of the franchise got to see a live adaptation that wasn’t so good, but they were compensated with the release of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves, which is available on the PlayStation 5 and PC.
The Legacy of Thieves Collection includes Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and The Lost Legacy remastered.
The games, as expected, are filled with lots of mysteries, suspense and action. If you missed the last two games; The Lost Legacy and Uncharted 4, you really should waste no time getting this. Critics and fans have praised the game.
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
For years, Traveller’s Tales have been on a relentless mission to document and adapt popular pop-media titles. While they successfully adapted prominent names in DC, Marvel, Harry Potter and the Tolkien universe, they first started with Star Wars. And it happens to be some of their best work.
In the Skywalker Saga, you get to experience all the highs and lows of Star Wars from exciting fanfiction references to multiple playable characters in a big package that’s family-friendly.
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is also available on most platforms: Playstation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, Windows PC, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.
Dune: Spice Wars
It took an Oscar-award-winning film and beautiful cinematography to get the Dune franchise out of its decade-long slumber, but the wait was absolutely worth it.
Patient fans of the apocalyptic franchise were rewarded with another Shiro Games masterpiece. For context, they were the brains behind Northgard.
Dune: Spice Wars is everything you’d expect it to be. From the awesome costumes of the Arrakis to the advanced machinery, they are all represented wonderfully. Players are thrust into a battle between the House Harkonnen and House Atreides. Their mission is to ensure the war machine stays afloat, and they have to scramble for water and, yes, Spice. As you’d expect, Sandworms are a constant threat, and in seconds, you could most of your progress.
