Ligue Française de League of Legends (LFL), the French European Regional League, is back again with another English broadcast for the Summer 2022 Season.

And two UK casters – DonJake and Roodood – are on board to lead the action.

They were announced last week that they’d be a part of the broadcast line-up with Northern Arena, and will be on the show every Wednesday and Thursday.

Esports News UK caught up with DonJake and Roodood about the move – and their backgrounds – this week.

DonJake said: “My background in esports is as a peripheral figure in the NLC structure. I streamed for ages and got acquainted with quite a few people. I’ve recently gotten my big break in casting but I’ve had a few outings as a content creator for orgs that fell through.

“My first time being introduced to people in UK scene was actually via [MNM’s former LoL team manager] OfficerNaughty’s UK Hunger Games and then playing Among Us with people like [NLC caster] Jamada. That’s how I struck up a friendship with Adrian, who’s probably my closest friend in League.”

DonJake also owns Ruddy Esports, who play in the NLC Division 3, after acquiring the spot from Pendragon Esports, and recently DonJake was spitting straight fire in this NLC rap.

On being a part of the broadcast for the LFL – the most watched ERL – DonJake added:

“It feels pretty amazing – to be given the platform to represent the biggest ERL and be a voice for English fans of the league is a massive deal.”

“Furthermore, it’s a massive undertaking to take over said honours from the wonderful talent they had last split. The fans are very passionate, which is a joy to be surrounded by and only emboldens me to better service the broadcast.

“The first week was a joyous introduction to my first time consistently casting an ERL. We had the opening banger of all bangers in LDLC vs BDS Academy – a rematch of the previous split’s final and it delivered on all cylinders: hype, aggression and a nailbiting backdoor. Can’t complain.

“I’d like to add that I can only hope this is the start of something special – and I’m only going to be working harder to keep on moving.”

DonJake is joined by Roodood, who also has plenty of experience in amateur League of Legends and is now taking the next steps in his career. You can check out Roodood’s caster reel here.

Roodood commented: “First of all, thank you – it’s been a rollercoaster journey to get here but happy that I made it all the same. This is by far my best opportunity as a caster in the European space and comes with its own set of challenges, since I also cast in the North American amateur space too. So battling between two different regions with their own takes on the meta, while also working in different time zones and doing my best to do justice to all players and their stories alike, certainly has given me a heavy workload.

“But it’s all such a joy that by the end of Thursday (the end of my working week), I’m itching to get it all started again. It’s also a pleasure to work with DonJake who has been such a personality in the EU scene for a while, and getting to see the insane growth and development of him specifically has been – and I’m sure will continue to be – a treat.

“LFL has proven itself to be the best region in Europe for a couple of years now, and I demand nothing less than that from myself to do it justice.”

The Spring 2022 LFL Northern Arena broadcast line-up was announced back in January and included the likes of UK talent Medic and Caedrel.

In recent French esports news, the French government banned English gaming words including esports, pro gamer and streamer to ‘preserve the purity’ of their language, but President Macron also showed support to esports at a special gathering.
