Update (October 22nd): Red Bull has confirmed the winner of the open qualifier who will be taking part in Red Bull Home Ground, as well as the broadcast talent for the event, which is all UK/Ireland talent.

The broadcast line-up will include the following UK talent – host Yinsu Collins, commentators Lauren ‘Pansy’ Scott, Michael ‘hypoc’ Robins and Tom ‘Tombizz’ Bissmire – as well as Irish commentator Mitch ‘MitchMan’ McBride.

And last night saw Ninjas in Pyjamas mount a comeback against LDN UTD to emerge victorious in the Red Bull Home Ground open qualifier final and seal a place at the pro Valorant invitational in London.

Streamed on The Goose House’s Twitch channel and cast by Ryan ‘RyanCentral’ Horton and Vincent ‘Zescht’ Talmon-Gros, the final proved a gruelling series. LDN UTD scooped the first match, before a resurgent NIP returned the favour to set up a climactic deciding third round.

Going to the wire in the best-of-three clash, fans also got to see new map Fracture in competitive action for one of the first ever times. It was nearly impossible to separate the two teams during the early clashes in the third round, before Ninjas in Pyjamas eventually pulled away to earn an incredible comeback win, and secure a place at Red Bull Home Ground.

Speaking about the team’s win, Ninjas in Pyjamas Valorant head coach Emil ‘eMIL’ Sandgren said: “The qualifier was tougher than expected, with a lot of underrated teams that deserve a lot of credit. That being said, we are happy to go through and will have to bring our A-game for the main event.”

Update (October 17th): Guild will no longer be participating in this event – Navi will be taking their place instead. Esports News UK understands Guild will be moving to a review stage for their Valorant team/operations after reaching the Valorant EMEA Last Chance Qualifier final.

Original article (October 7th):

London will play host to the second iteration of the Red Bull Home Ground Valorant invitational next month, with some of the world’s best teams taking part.

Red Bull Home Ground pitches teams in a best of five battle, with the first two opening matches on each team’s chosen ‘home ground’.

Added pressure is put on these opening home and away rounds, rewarding teams that can make the most of their home advantage and turn the tables on their opponent’s chosen map. If a team wins these two opening rounds they automatically win the tie, while a stalemate will then default to a best of five format.

Hosted at the Red Bull Gaming Sphere in London from November 4th to 7th. Red Bull Home Ground will feature a bigger 16-team format, with the following sides taking part:

  • G2 Esports
  • Navi
  • Team Liquid
  • Vodafone Giants
  • Tenstar
  • Acend
  • Futbolist
  • Fnatic
  • Supermassive
  • LDN UTD (stepping in for Heretics who decided to withdraw after benching several players)
  • Anubis
  • FPX
  • Gambit
  • BIG Clan
  • BDS
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas (the winner from the open qualifier)

The winners of Red Bull Campus Clutch, the largest global Valorant university tournament, Anubis, will be representing their home nation of Egypt during the finals in November, while Red Bull will also be opening the event to talented players across Europe, hosting open qualifiers from October 18th to 21st.

Sign-ups are live now at smash.gg/RBHG to find the final squad to complete the 16-team line-up.

Among the most intriguing match-ups will be between Valorant giants G2 and Gambit Esports. With G2 the reigning Red Bull Home Ground champions and Gambit recently emerging victorious at the VCT Berlin Masters (which helped Fnatic qualify for Valorant Champions), G2 will look to reassert their dominance on the Valorant scene.

“The last time we played Red Bull Home Ground I was playing with four different teammates by my side and we made it all the way to win the tournament. I can’t wait to come back to defend our title, all the more so as the competition seems to get bigger and better.”

Mixwell, G2

Looking ahead to the event, Oscar ‘mixwell’ Cañellas from G2, said: “The last time we played Red Bull Home Ground I was playing with four different teammates by my side and we made it all the way to win the tournament. I can’t wait to come back to defend our title, all the more so as the competition seems to get bigger and better.

“Red Bull Home Ground is a really great format that brings some fresh and unique ideas to the traditional match-making which makes it really fun to play.”

Red Bull also hosts a series of other esports events, including League of Legends 1v1 competition Red Bull Solo Q – most recently won by Enes ‘AKEN’ Akguel, and Red Bull M.E.O, a global mobile tournament now in its third season, featuring Teamfight Tactics.

Red Bull Home Ground will be broadcast from the Red Bull Gaming Sphere in London and live on twitch.tv/redbull and https://www.youtube.com/c/redbullgaming.
