LeBron James is widely considered as one of the greatest basketball players in NBA history, putting him in the league of Michael Jordan. And now his eldest son, 15-year-old Bronny James, is getting ready to follow his legendary father into the basketball arena.

He has already played with various AAU teams across the US even before joining the high school, leading the Gulf Coast Blue Chips team to a fourth-grade championship at the 2015 Dallas Summer Jam.

In 2018, he played for the North Coast Blue Chips at Junior NBA Midwest championships and advanced till the quarterfinals. In the same year, he guided his middle school, Old Trail School in Ohio, to win an independent school league tournament.

Currently playing for the Sierra Canyon High School in Los Angeles, he is ranked 24th in basketball recruit rankings for the class of 2023 by ESPN. And now he has added another feather to his cap, joining the esports franchise of FaZeClan, with the company announcing that the talented player will be playing for them under the tag of FaZe Bronny.

As the news broke, esports betting sites have apparently been in overdrive, with the introduction of a celebrity player.

Esports has slowly but surely gained popularity among gamers. With the introduction of live streaming platforms like Twitch for esports, their popularity has surged, with an estimated viewing audience of around 500 million and industry revenues topping a billion dollars annually.

Seeing the popularity of esports, many game developers are now actively designing and funding major esports events around the globe.

FaZe Clan, established in 2010, is based in Los Angeles and boasts of a huge roster of players for playing esports games like Call of Duty, FIFA, Fortnite, and PUBG to name a few.

It counts celebrities like Ray J, DJ Paul, Josh Hart and Chris O’Donnell among its early investors. Valued at $240m dollars in 2019, it takes the number 4 slot at the Forbes annual rankings of major esports organisations.

An avid gamer since childhood, he has streamed himself playing games like Warzone and NBA 2K. The much-hyped trailer above showed Bronny playing popular esports games like Call of Duty and Fortnite.

Although he is so young, Bronny James has an immense presence on social media, with more than 300,000 followers on game streaming platform Twitch, and 4.4 million followers on Tiktok.

Bronny James is another high profile acquisition for FaZe, which boasts of Pittsburgh Steelers star JuJu Smith, and Philadelphia 69ers player Ben Simmons, who joined in as an investor on the platform. The terms of Bronny James’ engagement have not been made public yet.

While Bronny is not expected to play as a competitive esports player with FaZe Clan, he could serve as a content creator for games like NBA 2K.

Despite his love for gaming, and enjoying a celebrity status online, the young star has maintained that these are just pastimes for him and his primary goal has always been to follow his father’s footsteps and join a professional basketball league someday.
