It appears that fan-favourite game mode ARAM Mayhem is sticking around in League of Legends and could become permanent.
ARAM Mayhem combines the beloved random gameplay of ARAM with the power-ups (augments) from Arena.
The mode was supposed to exit now that LoL has entered the 2026 season with Patch 26.1.
However, according to LoL wiki updater SpiderAxe, ARAM Mayhem has been extended due to popular demand.

ARAM Mayhem was released back in October as a limited-time mode and has proven to be extremely popular.
Official player numbers for the game mode have not been released but some have esitmated over 70 million Mayhem matches have been played on some two-week patches.
And that’s partially because ARAM itself is a mode popular with all types of players.
The simplified gameplay condensed into one lane is both great for new players learning LoL and older players, such as myself, wanting an easier and faster experience than Summoner’s Rift.
With the addition of the entertaining and ridiculous augments of Arena, ARAM Mayhem seems to be the most enjoyable way to play LoL.
Fast-paced and action-packed, ARAM Mayhem is potentially the perfect antithesis of Summoner’s Rift and its slower, tactical play. It gives LoL players more options.
Even Drew Levin, one of the most popular Rioters for his LoL smurf-roasting tweets, claimed the return is the best part of the huge 2026 update, saying:
“This is lowkenuinely the best thing of 16.1, and it has some pretty stiff competition.
“I can’t wait to work hard on climbing this season and then derail myself by playing 900 games of mayhem.”

While Riot hasn’t directly confirmed ARAM Mayhem, the new patch essentially did with further champion balance updates for the game mode.
And according to SpiderAxe, Patch 26.3 on February 4th will bring a major update for the mode, likely with new augments.
