Are Mega Kanto starters coming to Pokémon Pocket?

Pokémon TCG Pocket have released a teaser for a trailer for the mobile game’s next expansion.

The game is currently at the beginning of Set B after the huge release of the Mega Rising expansion and the introduction of Mega Evolutions.

Now the latest Pokémon Pocket pack will be revealed in a new trailer tomorrow, December 11th at 2pm GMT.

We already know we will get our hands on the new cards surprisingly soon, as the next Pokémon Pocket expansion release date leaked.

If the packs follow the same pattern as last year, the new expansion should be a single-pack update with around 68-75 cards.

Judging by the teaser video with water, grass, and fire, the next update will definitely revolve around a set of starters, likely with Mega Evolutions.

The Hoenn starter Mega Evolutions were just added to Pokémon Legends Z-A.

However, the most likely theory for Pocket seems to be Mega Evolutions of the Kanto starters, Blastoise, Charizard, and Venusaur.

The grass portion with the red flowers feels very reminiscent of Venusaur, which fans worry could be impossible to kill.

Venesaur EX is already very difficult to kill in Pokémon Pocket with 190 HP, a lot of healing, and the Heavy Helmet tool.

A Mega version would likely break the in-game record for the highest HP, considering taking down a Mega Evolution is an automatic win.

However, the red flowers could easily be a reference to Mega Meganium from the new Nintendo Switch title, Pokémon Legends Z-A.

Though the long stream of water in the teaser feels more likely to be a reference to Mega Blastoise than Mega Feraligatr.

Kanto would also make sense as the Pokémon Company has just released Charizard updates for Legends Z-A, UNITE, Masters EX and merchandise.

Pokémon Pocket ranked season ends soon

Because the Mega Rising expansion was so large, DeNa delayed the Pokémon Pocket ranked season until November 27th.

However, the ranked season is set to end this weekend on December 14th, just two and a half weeks later.

Due to this shorter season, the point requirements for reaching each rank have been substantially reduced.

The point changes, likely only for this 17-day ranked season, are as follows:

  • Beginner 4
    95 -> 80
  • Poke Ball 1
    145 -> 110
  • Poke Ball 2
    195 -> 140
  • Poke Ball 3
    245 -> 170
  • Poke Ball 4
    300 -> 210
  • Great Ball 1
    355 -> 250
    Great Ball 2
    420 -> 290
    Great Ball 3
    490 -> 340
  • Great Ball 4
    600 -> 410
  • Ultra Ball 1
    710 -> 480
  • Ultra Ball 2
    860 -> 570
  • Ultra Ball 3
    1010 -> 660
  • Ultra Ball 4
    1225 -> 790
  • Master Ball unranked
    1450 -> 930

It marks a great opportunity for players to reach Master Ball for the first time and collect the 95 Pack Hourglass reward.
