Cassiopeia can buy boots again in League of Legends

Riot Games is making a bug, unexpected change to Cassiopeia in League of Legends to modernise her kit in 2026.
The snake-like champion hasn’t been able to buy boots in-game for years due to the fact that… she doesn’t have legs.
Due to this, Cassiopeia’s passive gave her 4 – 72 (based on level) bonus movement speed, but she couldn’t purchase Boots items.
However, that is changing for LoL Season 16.

Cassiopeia has been given a brand new passive on the PBE ahead of the huge changes for LoL Season 16.
With the new passive, Cassiopeia increases the effectiveness of all Move Speed bonuses by 6%.
She can now buy boots again for the first time since 2016; it has been almost a decade.
With this new passive, Cassiopeia gains 7 movement speed at level 6 with tier 2 boots and 18 extra movement speed at level 18.
And alongside this change, Riot August confirmed that Cassiopeia is also having her base movement speed buffed from 328 to 340.
This big change is because of the introduction of new Role Quests that Riot is introducing to LoL next year.
Once completed, the new midlane quest gives players a faster recall and free tier 3 boots.
Similarly, the new bot lane carry quest moves the player’s boots to an extra item slot so that a 7th item can be built.
Both of these options should be pretty powerful on Cassiopeia.
A 7th item will help Cassiopeia become an even stronger late-game carry and she will benefit greatly from tier 3 CDR or magic pen boots.
It certainly helps her kiting-focused playstyle.
However, Cassiopeia mains will have to get used to longer saving 1100 gold for not having to buy boots in the early game.
Other changes coming to League of Legends in Season 16

League of Legends Patch 25.24 added WASD controls to the game in a revolutionary change to the game.
And even bigger changes are coming in 2026.
For starters, the Atakhan epic monster is being removed from the game after players complained about objective fatigue.
Leaving with him are blood roses and petals, while Baron will once again spawn at the 20-minute mark.
Additionally, minions and jungle camps will now spawn 35 seconds earlier at the start of the game to reduce downtime for players.
And new Faelights will appear on the map as small rings, which greatly enhance the range of vision of wards placed inside them.
