PGL Singapore Major 2026 marks regional debut
The PGL Singapore Major 2026 will see 32 teams across Counter-Strike’s regions contest the combined $1,250,000 Prize Pool, in the event which will mark the end of the 2026 calendar.
It will mark the second Major of the 2026 Counter-Strike calendar, following the announcement that Cologne would host the first Major of the year.
The event marks the first Counter-Strike Major hosted in Southeast Asia, with previous Majors taking place across Europe, North America, Brazil, and China.
The PGL Singapore Major 2026 will be the first Major in Asia since the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024, indicating that future Asian Counter-Strike Majors may be more common than previously thought.
When reviewing the Majors from 2024-2026, we can now see a pattern in which one Major per year is in Europe, with the other Majors in that time jumping between Asia and the Americas.
In order: PGL Copenhagen Major 2024, Perfect World Shanghai 2024, BLAST Austin Major 2025, StarLadder Budapest Major 2025
Singapore also hosted The International in 2022, which was also organised by PGL. The Grand Final took place in the Singapore Indoor Stadium, where Tundra Esports claimed the title.
Silviu Stroie, CEO of PGL, added to the announcement:
“Bringing the first Counter-Strike Major to Singapore is a moment that truly inspires us.”
“This city has been home to some of our most memorable esports events, and we’ve always felt the energy and passion of the fans here. Returning now with a Counter-Strike Major feels like the natural next step. Our goal is to honour the legacy of Counter-Strike by delivering an event worthy of the community’s dedication and love for the game.”
Ms Jean Ng, Assistant Chief Executive (Experience Development Group), from the Singapore Tourism Board, added,
“Singapore has been host to exciting esports events such as The International, the largest DOTA 2 esports event in the world, and we look forward with much anticipation to hosting our first Counter Strike Major in 2026, which will reinforce Singapore as a world-class events destination.
As one of the most prestigious tournaments in the Counter Strike scene, the event promises to attract fans from around the region, and we invite them to also enjoy Singapore’s lifestyle experiences and vibrant energy.”
