2XKO has launched its Official Cinematic to celebrate the tag-team League of Legends-themed fighting game entering Early Access.
The upcoming Riot title has also revealed new playable characters and its Battle Pass for Season 0.
Official Cinematic sparks gameplay and lore speculation
The cinematic has sparked feverous speculation about the potential gameplay implications, as well as the lore, which is deeply connected to the League of Legends characters that are already beloved by fans.
The story of the cinematic focuses mostly on Ahri, who teams up with Ekko for the tag-team battle that exemplifies 2XKO’s combat system.
But Redditors were left confused by that particular pairing, with one commenter stating, “Ekko and Ahri against Yasuo (and then Warwick) is not what I expected lol. In canon, Ekko and Ahri never interacted or know each other, right?”
Another added, “Considering Yasuo and Ahri’s relationship in Ruined King, it was confusing why they weren’t the ones together.”
Others pointed out that the story of the cinematic implies that Ekko and Ahri connected in the moment, and perhaps Ahri’s angst with Yasuo is canonical but not yet known.
Whether the cinematic is reflective of a deeper storyline isn’t evident, but Riot fans will have fun speculating nevertheless.
Will Warwick be playable in the 2XKO Early Access?
Yes, 2XKO’s Twitter confirmed shortly after the release of the Official Cinematic that Warwick would be playable in the Early Access.
Warwick’s addition means that there are 11 playable characters as part of the Early Access: Ahri, Blitzcrank, Braum, Darius, Ekko, Illaoi, Jinx, Teemo, Vi, Warwick, Yasou.
That is one more than was promised by the development team.
What is in the 2XKO Battle Pass?
2XKO have outlined their Battle Pass model in the patch notes, giving an outline of free and paid pathways, with multiple tiers of paid pathways for more progression, items, and cost.
“Each Battle Pass will have a free track, which lets you claim a limited selection of the rewards that are available for the season. In addition to the free track, you can earn other rewards by unlocking the premium track.”
The paid pathways are outlined as such: “The premium track has three different paid options: Standard, Deluxe, and Ultra.”
“You’re always able to earn Battle Pass XP and level up your Battle Pass the whole season, and you can purchase at any point during the Season and claim all your earned rewards.”
Riot also outlined the Free pathway for the battle pass, stating, “For Season 0, the free track will contain the Rift Quest Teemo skin, a set of avatar clothing, 3 stickers, a player card, a player title, and a finisher.”
The Premium path includes Champion Skins, Avatar Items, the new stages of Zaun and Firelight Run.
The Ultra path includes 10 level skins, allowing for faster progression through the battle pass, as well as Skins, Chromas, Avatar Items and other items.
