The League of Legends fighting game 2XKO will finally release today (September 9th) with the launch of the closed beta.
Invites will be sent out around 6pm BST, with the beta going live at 7pm in North and South America initially, before other regions follow closely.
This is the official rollout of the game as Riot Games hopes to keep 2XKO online from this point onwards.
A lot has changed since the Alpha Labs, so here is everything you need to know about the 2XKO closed beta.

How to play the 2XKO closed beta?
Riot Games is only inviting a limited number of people to take part in the closed beta so the servers don’t overload.
To play the closed beta, you will need to receive a code via email. Players can register for the chance on the 2XKO website.
Those who participated in either Alpha Lab 1 or Alpha Lab 2 will automatically receive an invite to the beta.
And anyone who receives a code will also be able to send a couple of codes to friends, so groups can play together.
However, the closed beta is only available to PC players.
Anyone who played the Alpha Labs on console will automatically be invited to play on PC.
Will progress be saved from the closed beta?

Despite being part of the official release, Riot has confirmed that progress made in the closed beta will not be saved.
The closed beta will feature ranked mode with 11 ranks to climb through, from Aspirant to Challenger.
And the game will also feature the champion mastery system, which unlocks character-based cosmetics through champion-specific missions.
Each champion will have the following items available through mastery challenges:
- A full set of avatar clothing (5-7 pieces depending on the champion)
- 4 player titles
- 4 stickers
- 1 animated sticker
- 2 player cards
- 3 champion taunts
- 1 Mastery chroma
Ranked and champion mastery progress will be wiped when the closed beta ends – timing of which has not yet been confirmed.
However, closed beta players will receive an exclusive “Challenger” player title at launch.

The 2XKO closed beta will feature all nine champions that have been announced for the game so far.
That includes two new champions who weren’t previously playable: Vi and Blitzcrank.
Vi, of Netflix’s Arcane fame, was revealed earlier in the year and was playable at EVO, but not in the Alpha Labs.
Meanwhile, this will be the first time players get to experience Blitzcrank in 2XKO.
The Steam Golem was recently revealed as a grappler with much of his kit using his iconic Rocket Grab.
The full roster for the 2XKO closed beta is:
- Ahri
- Bliztcrank
- Braum
- Darius
- Ekko
- Illaoi
- Jinx
- Vi
- Yasuo
Ahri, Braum, Darius, Ekko, Illaoi, and Yasuo will be playable by default.
However, Jinx, Vi, Blitzcrank, and all champions released in future will need to be unlocked through champion tokens or credits.
Champion tokens can be earned through completing the ‘First Fight’ tutorial in the game.
Credits can be earned through completing various 2XKO missions.

As well as new champions, there are new locations to play in too, as the beta will feature all 2XKO stages revealed so far.
The aforementioned champion mastery system will be available for the first time in the beta.
As will 2XKO’s replay system, which will allow players to rewatch games in their match history.
Riot has also added a lot of different gameplay rebalancing changes.
The beta has focused on improving match pacing, adding defensive options, increasing comeback potential, and giving more interaction.
Riot has also released the following champion updates:
- Ahri: Air normal tweaks, Charm improvements, new cinematic
- Braum: Health reduced, grab slowed, overhead buffed
- Darius: New projectile attack, health reduced, new background NPCs in Noxus stage
- Ekko: Safer blockstrings, new cinematics, adjusted knockdown tools
- Illaoi: Tentacle-focused redesign, chargeable heavy attack
- Jinx: Buffed Clappy and Chompers, more zoning and combo potential
- Yasuo: Stronger mixups, adjusted launcher and visual cleanups
- Vi: Damage normalised, Hook and Blast Shield adjusted for balance
There are various new tutorials available in the beta, including lessons about Fuses, which are playstyle modifiers you choose at the start of a match.
Also, for the first time, the 2XKO closed beta will have offline modes, including a training mode and local VS.
Meanwhile, online ranked mode will release on September 18th, the second week of the beta. However, progress will reset after the beta.

Various cosmetics will be available in the beta, including colour-changing chromas for each champion.
However, champion skins will not be available. The beta will not contain anything that requires money to be spent.
The 2XKO closed beta also won’t have a Battle Pass, unlike in Alpha Lab 2.
