LFT, LFO, LF1… decoding Apex pro’s rostermania lingo

For those new to the game, understanding the language used during roster season can be challenging. Abbreviations are often used to describe what players are looking for and their respective status.

One of the core motivations for roster changes is CP, also known as Championship Points. Players hold individual CP, so by changing teams, they can increase the number of CP they have collectively. CPs are crucial to qualifying for the Year 5 ALGS Championship in Sapporo, Japan.

“FA” stands for “Free Agent.” This is when players are released from their contract or roster and typically seek a new team to join. They are free to explore their options and participate in trial periods with new teams. FA can also be used to refer to players who are competing in a team, but the team is not signed to an organisation.

“LFT” is one of the most frequently used abbreviations. This phrase stands for “Looking For Team.” It is most commonly used by FA players and coaches seeking a new roster to sign with.

“LFO” means that a full roster (usually three players and a coach) is looking for an organisation to represent. Organisations are official companies that a team can sign to, such as TSM, Team Liquid, Alliance, or VK Gaming. Unsigned players will typically seek an organisation to represent, as it helps with self-promotion and can provide consistent salaries.

“LF1” is a term used when two players are seeking a third player to complete their team. In Apex Legends, three players must compete on each team. Players posting that they are LF1 are usually looking to have FA players try out on their team before joining the roster.

29/07/2025

  • Gaimin Gladiators part ways with their entire Apex Legends roster. Jamie ‘Blasts’ Levine, Pawel ‘lighT’ Haratyk, Nicholas ‘Fuhhnq’ Wall, and coach Luca ‘Liuq’ Andenna are assumed to be either LFT or LFO.

Gaimin Gladiators signed the roster in May 2024. The trio performed well at the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs in August and September 2024, finishing the tournament in 2nd place. However, they struggled to achieve the same results in 2025, with no top-five finishes in ALGS tournaments.

  • Burke announces that they are LFT as a coach, preferably for a Split 2 Pro League team. He still has the option to stay with his current team, Fusion (FS).

28/07/2025

  • Casper ‘Gnaske’ Præstensgaard and Francisco ‘k4shera’ Alves confirm that they have picked up Adam ‘AdaM_zZ’ Fekkari as their third player. The trio also announce that they are LFO.

Gnaske, K4shera, and AdaM_zZ will be playing under the name “o7” for the time being—a team name that Gnaske has used in the past as a FA team.

In his post on X (formerly Twitter) announcing the addition of AdaM_zZ to their team, Gnaske explained that they are “keeping the o7 sag alive with this triple MNK god roster.” All three players on the team play on Mouse and Keyboard rather than a controller.

The MNK/controller supremacy debate continues to rage in competitive Apex. Still, recent high-profile wins from triple MNK teams show that, while the controller briefly reigned supreme, traditional input is regaining its previous status. VK Gaming’s ALGS Midseason Playoffs win is the most recent demonstration of this shift.

He also explained the thought behind the new team’s dynamic:

“For the people who don’t know Adam, he’s a MNK prodigy and might just have the most insane MNK mechanics of all time […] K4shera and I are obviously veteran players and due to our experience, we think we’re the perfect match to help Adam reach his full potential!”

Gnaske and K4shera need a demon-like fragger to complete their team. AdaM_zZ’s raw talent as an 18-year-old upcoming player may be the perfect addition to push his two experienced teammates back to the top.

This trio will certainly be one to watch.

  • Manuel ‘Nail’ Dhaene confirms that he is LFT for pro league as a fragger/anchor
  • Federico ‘Shex’ Trevisan and Alessandro ‘Eccio’ D’Avino conform they are LF1, prefarably looking for an IGL

He also revealed that he has recently completed an EMT certification and is planning to become a paramedic. Other professional players, retired players, streamers, and fans alike congratulated him on his new career path, and the community wishes him the best moving forward.

The announcement that Team Falcons will remain together comes as a surprise to many ALGS viewers who speculated that the team may change after their failure to win the ALGS Midseason Playoffs at the Esports World Cup.

During practice games ahead of the tournament, IGL Rhys ‘Zer0’ Perry could be heard shouting at his teammate Ben ‘Wxltzy’ Walton and seemingly breaking objects in the background of ImperialHal’s livestream, suggesting that team relations may have turned sour.
