UK-based Omeda Studios has unveiled the exciting details of the brand new 1.7 update for their free-to-play third-person action multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA), Predecessor.
Built upon the failed Epic Games MOBA, Paragon, the game now pays its respects in its latest update by bringing back the map Agora.
Alongside the new map will be the introduction of a new hero, Renna, and updates to Predecessor itself.
Predecessor pays tribute to Paragon with the return of original Agora map
Predecessor was built from the ashes of Paragon, following the decision to shut down the game in 2018 by Epic Games.
Co-founder of Omeda Studios, Robbie Singh and his team used the public assets from Paragon to form Omeda Studios and develop Predecessor.
After an alpha and beta period, the game officially launched in August 2024.
Fast forward 11 months and for the first time since launch, Paragon and Predecessor fans will now have the long awaited opportunity to do battle on Agora.
The original Paragon map has been completely rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 for Predecessor.
Agora will be available to all players for a limited time through the new Legacy Mode in Predecessor LABS.
The release of Agora in the 1.7 update will Pargon fans a chance to relive their time in Paragon.
While giving new players a chance to experience Agora for the first time ever in Omeda Studios’ Predecessor.
As well as reviving all of the original Paragon heroes, Predecessor has now officially exceeded the lifespan of the game that inspired its creation.
Omeda Studios have already laid the groundwork to forge ahead with a new creative direction that is entirely their own.
Future updates will signify a clear separation from its origins and usher in a new era for Predecessor.
Speaking about the addition of Agora in Predecessor LABS, Omeda Studios CEO Robbie Singh said:
“The Paragon community that have been with us since the beginning of Predecessor have been very eager to have the chance to return to Agora since we began development.
The team have been working incredibly hard to recreate the original map in Unreal Engine 5 and we’re delighted to be able to finally bring this to our players.
Paragon has undoubtedly played a special role in our story and we’re thrilled to be able to revisit the original map for one final time before we embark on this exciting new chapter for Predecessor.
Our community and playerbase is so important to us and I can’t wait to join them on the battlefield in Agora for one last time!”
Predecessor 1.7 update to introduce Renna
As well as the highly anticipated arrival of Agora, 1.7 will also see the introduction of a brand new original hero.
Renna, a new Mid-Lane hero and sister of the recently added Yurei.
This powerful sorceress was corrupted by an ancient evil.
Despised by the Koru Shinzo, Renna made a pact with Akeron, the Demon King of Ashkarath, gaining Riftmagic.
Now fully empowered, she fights her sister as the Demon King’s right hand.
Renna is a dark magic wielder who grows stronger throughout battle by harvesting essence from fallen enemies with her passive, Echoes of the Damned, which also grants her mid-air floating.
Patch 1.7 for Predecessor is scheduled for release at 12pm BST on Tuesday July 22nd, and will contain several game content updates, including new skins and gameplay fixes.
