Teamfight Tactics Set 15: K.O. Coliseum
The highly anticipated 15th set of TFT, K.O. Coliseum, transports players to Whisker’s ultimate anime fighting tournament.
Set 15 will hit PBE servers on Tuesday, July 15th and launches on all mobile and PC platforms on Wednesday, July 30th.
In the recently published TFT Dev Drop video, Riot Games showcased K.O. Coliseum’s epic gameplay highlights.
Including formidable anime-themed champions, never-before-seen traits, and a new game mechanic.
Riot Games has gone all in with the anime theme, going as far as appropriately naming every ability in an anime style.
K.O. Coliseum also brings about 120 new Augments, with 70 of those being novel content and mechanics for particular units and traits.
K.O. Coliseum will deliver a fresh and playful experience for veterans and newcomers alike.
New champions coming to Teamfight Tactics
K.O. Coliseum introduces a new roster of champions that form players’ teams and battle against each other.
Players can channel their inner magic power with Seraphine, whose anime-inspired Ultimate Friendship Bomb spell strikes all enemies within a 2-hex radius.
Fan-favourite staple Kobuko, TFT’s first-ever original character from Runeterra, returns as a 2-cost Mentor.
While Braum, Gwen, Twisted Fate, Varus, Yone and Zyra round out the lineup of 5-cost units.
Each with their own unique ability, which sets them apart from the other units.
K.O. Coliseum’s set traits and origins
K.O. Coliseum comes with exciting new traits and origins that challenge players to get creative on their quest for victory:
- Soul Fighter
- Soul Fighters gain bonus health as well as stacking Attack Damage and Ability Power every second up to 8 stacks. At max stacks, they deal true damage on their abilities and attacks.
- Star Guardian
- Star Guardians power up through friendship by gaining a unique Teamwork Bonus for every Star Guardian on the board.
- Crystal Gambit
- The high-risk, high-reward trait. Kills and losses during player combats will earn you Gem Power, which can be cashed out every 4 player combats.
- Mighty Mech
- Every Mighty Mech you field strengthens the Mighty Mech. The higher the star level, the more powerful the Mighty Mech becomes
- Wraith
- Wraiths channel power from the Shadow Realm to strike the three closest enemies. The lowest health Wraith heals for 18% of the damage dealt by Wraiths and the Shadow Realm.
- Battle Academia:
- Battle Academia upgrade their abilities for each trait tier and from ‘Potential’ gained.
- Luchador:
- Luchadors gain bonus Attack Damage. At 50% health, they cleanse negative effects, heal, and leap into the ring to knock up their enemies.
- Mentor:
- The Mentors grant your team unique bonuses so long as either one or all of them are on your side.
- The Crew:
- The Crew gains health and Attack Speed for each Crew member fielded. Every 3-star Crew champion grants additional bonuses. Once enough of them are 3-starred, they’ll call in their starship to rain down destruction.
- Supreme Cells:
- All Supreme Cells units gain Damage Amp, but the Supreme gains more and executes enemies under 10% health.
- Stance Master (Lee Sin only):
- As a Stance Master, Lee Sin can pick a trait that’s best suited for battle. Choose between Duelist Stance, Executioner Stance, and Juggernaut Stance, and then gain a unique ability that matches the chosen stance.
- Monster Trainer (Lulu only):
- Lulu stands out as TFT’s first champion that’s three units in one. When Lulu is played, players can choose between Kog’Maw, Rammus, or Smolder, who slowly level up as the game goes on.
Prismatic Traits
In response to Prismatic Traits becoming a matter of gaining the correct emblems, Prismatic Traits will now require players to also complete a mini-quest to unlock their power.
To supplement this, each Prismatic Trait’s break point now comes with a game-ending effect.
From Star Guardians casting a ridiculous amount of spells to the Crew pulling off the biggest heist possible. Ending the game.
New TFT set mechanic: Power Ups
Power Ups are a new consumable, Power Snax, that can be used on a champion to open an armoury of empowering options for that champion.
This should let players make any champion the main character of any team.
Players can also remove Power Ups to give to other units with a special remover or by selling the unit.
Roles revamped
With the launch of K.O. Coliseum, TFT is revising and evolving unit roles, which will now affect gameplay.
Each role will determine how units gain mana and how champions interact with different gameplay systems.
This also means that mana and mana regeneration are getting an overhaul.
Flat mana gains are gone, in favour of mana regeneration.
Each unit gains mana through their role-specific mana generation and items.
An added change to roles will please many fans of melee carry team compositions.
When units are next to each other and same distance from an enemy unit, the Tank unit will be targeted.
While the Assassin unit will be the least targeted by enemy units.
These adjustments aim to change how TFT is played going forward.
