The time has come for the latest patch for League of Legends (LoL) that’ll be used for the 2025 Mid-Season Invitational.
With it comes a few changes aimed specifically at professional play, meaning haters of Zed jungle will have to wait another patch.
The patch will also feature the return of the much-loved game mode Arena alongside the new map for ARAM players to enjoy.
Return of Arena with new and updated maps for ARAM on patch 25.13
As previously mentioned on the LoL developer blog, the ARAM game mode will have a rotating map pool.
The newest map on the list, Koeshin’s Crossing, will feature portals that players can use to their advantage.
This will also come with the return of Butcher’s Bridge, much to the fans’ delight.
Riot Games has also introduced Champion Cards to choose from at the start of each champion select in ARAM.
Unselected Champions Cards will enter the bench, where other players can pick from.
However, the most exciting addition to this patch for many is the return of Arena.
Thanks to the overwhelming outcry of support for the game mode, Arena returns for a whole twelve months.
Pulling from it’s most recent iteration from the Welcome to Noxus event, Arena will be available for the next year.
Similar to another popular game mode, which later became its own entity and is now celebrating its sixth anniversary.
Patch 25.13 champion balance highlights
As the MSI patch, tentative changes have been made so that the competitive doesn’t implode on a single patch.
Teams now have a few days to adapt as the tournament kicks off later this week on Friday, June 27th, with G2 Esports facing Furia.
For this patch, the change may have been minor, but its effect could be meta-defining.
Irelia received some buffs to her early game, surrounding her passive, Ionian Fervour, stacks.
Each stack now gives additional attack speed in the early levels, as well as the max attack speed being increased.
The additional attack speed early will give them greater fighting potential in the early to mid-game.
Another champion that received some love was Rammus, yet again.
Giving him bonus armour and magic resist for each skill level placed in his Defensive Ball Curl (W).
Combine with the changes given to the ball of spikes in the previous patch, Rammus should be a somewhat viable option over the Sejuani, or at the very least over the constantly forced Skarner.
Gangplank is another winner to this, having his early poke amplified with reduced mana costs to Parrrley (Q).
However, this is a minor change which will still punish players who solely rely on the ability.
For those who don’t care about the competitive scene, there are a few changes which may affect your games.
Briar has received some quality of life changes which allow her simple kit to be spammed more without any side effects.
Meanwhile, Fiddlesticks will continue to terrorise the game, now dealing more damage with the increased ability power scaling to his Bountiful Harvest (W).
Already an obnoxious support pick, now Fiddlesticks is empowered for greater things in the right hands.
Other notable changes include:
- Nidalee’s Javelin Toss (Q) now has increased damage based on distance travelled, scaling up to 25%.
- Ryze’s Rune Prison (W) mana cost has been shifted to punish more in the early game.
- Vi’s Blast Shield (Passive) has seen a hit to her safety, however, this won’t affect the Eclipse enjoyers on Vi.
