Karmine Corp defeat GiantX in VCT Game Changers EMEA Grand Final

British GiantX fell short at Valorant Game Changers EMEA Stage 2, after one long and intense series.

The team faced French Karmine Corp GC in a rematch from the upper bracket finals.

GiantX took the series lead but couldn’t convert it as Karmine Corp GC were crowned back-to-back champions of VCT Game Changers EMEA.

GiantX take the first map on Split

At the start, it was GiantX (GX) that took control of the game, taking the first few rounds to gain the early lead.

Karmine Corp GC (KC) fought back hard after Azra ‘alkyia’ Erin was obliterated three members of GX with the Showstopper.

Despite this, GX were able to take round after round to earn themselves a comfortable lead at the end of the half at 8-4.

For a moment, it looked as if KC would make a comeback after taking four rounds in a row, putting a potential overtime on the table.

Fortunately, GX were able to pull everything together to close out the map 13-9.

GiantX streamer and former pro player, Daniela ‘Jupi’ Gradl, was unable to hold in their excitement as GX won the map.

Karmine Corp GC’s prayers are answered on Haven

The second map of Haven was heavily favoured towards KC, having previously dominated GX on the map a few days ago.

GX took the early lead, but not without issue, as they were unable to convert the bonus round.

A clutch from alkyia exposed GX’s shaky lead to bring the score to 4-2, however, GX were able to build momentum to maintain their lead.

In turn and to consolidate their lead, Nur ‘eva’ Çakır took down all KC members to secure an Ace and eventually end the half 9-3.

In the second half, KC were brought back to life to take the first few rounds, as Şura ‘Jiex’ Yıldırım on the Bulldog was able to mow down GX.

Building on their lead, KC were able to close the gap and equalise the score to 10-10.

In an unbelievable comeback, KC took the final few rounds and the map, 13-10.

GiantX give cold welcome on Icebox

GX would take the match to Icebox for the third map in an attempt to retake the series lead.

Once again GX came out swinging with KC kicking back on the thrid round, after Anastasia ‘anesilia’ Ivanova secured the 4k.

GX were quick to fight back to secure the lead once again.

Not to be out done, KC took every round they could to stay in the game at the end of the half, with a score of 7-5 in favour of GX.

Initially, the two sides continued to trade rounds with GX’s early lead pushing them closer to taking the map.

A clutch defuse from Neslişah ‘ness’ Demir was able to carry GX to the finish line with just 0.7 seconds to spare.

Ending the thrid map at 13-8, and placing GiantX one map away from the championship.

The fourth map was picked by KC and it showed as the team took many of the early rounds.

Round after round went to KC, as GX were forced to call a timeout to stem the bleeding.

On the ninth round, GX were able to add one round on the board for the team.

However, KC continued to dominate the half with a score of 11-1.

The second half wasn’t much better for GX as KC took the map in a swift 13-1.

In the final map to decide the championship, it was KC that took the initial lead.

Taking it round by round, KC maintained that lead and advantage, as GX picked at their defence.

It was looking dire for GX as KC slow built an insurmountable lead and ended the first half, 10-2.

A thrifty round for GX game them a little bit of hope as they continued against the odds.

Pulling back a few rounds afterwards, GX would attempt to perform a miracle.

GX would create a miracle when Yağmur ‘Smurfette’ Gündüz secured a 4k to bring the score to 7-11 in KC’s favour.

However, each round for KC brought them closer to the end.

With their strong lead, Karmine Corp GC took the final map and title as VCT Game Changers EMEA champions.
