Wolves Esports have defeated Sentinels at the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Masters Toronto to reach the upper bracket final.
The team performed miracles throughout the tournament, defeating some of the best each region has to offer.
They have one last stop on their way to the Grand Final as they take on the Paper Rex hype train.
Wolves Esports toppled the undefeated Gen.G Esports
The team owned by the British football club, Wolverhampton Wanderers, have proven to be a formidable team at VCT Masters Toronto.
Wolves Esports have defeated the likes of Team Heretics, Bilibili Gaming, and Rex Regum Qeon to make it to the upper bracket final.
Gen.G Esports were the favourites to beat them, having been unstoppable before their match against Wolves Esports.
The start of their match was like any other for Gen.G Esports as they took the first six rounds on Split.
Wolves Esports were able to pull back a few rounds, but it wasn’t enough as Gen.G Esports took a comfortable 9-3 lead.
Gen.G Esports looked set to take the first map, however, Wolves Esports had other plans.
Despite the deficit, Wolves Esports remained confident as they took round by round to even the score.
Wolves Esports’ in-game leader, Pong ‘SiuFatBB’ Ka-hei, could constantly be seen out of his seat, as he hyped up his team and the crowd.
With the crowd behind them, Wolves Esports were able to make an incredible comeback to take the map 13-11.
The following map was an unfamiliar one for Wolves Esports, having not played Sunset at all this year.
This began to show as Gen.G Esports were able to take another comfortable lead once again.
This time around for Wolves Esports, they were able to gain a few more rounds in the first half.
Including SiuFatBB’s clutch, which caused much confusion among the remaining Gen.G Esports members as he stuck a recon arrow on one of the players.
However, it was the second half where Wolves Esports found their form, as the team’s aggression overwhelmed Gen.G Esports.
Ending the game in style, it was SiuFatBB against Gen.G Esports’ Ha ‘Ash’ Hyun-cheol in the 1v1.
SiuFatBB was brought down to six health, whilst Ash had seven bullets left in his Vandal.
In a moment you had to be there for, SiuFatBB came out on top to take the series for Wolves Esports.
Wolves Esports to face the Paper Rex hype train
Wolves Esports now face their greatest challenge yet.
Another underdog team.
Paper Rex is the third seed from the Pacific region but has proven to be an unstoppable force.
Many have since joined the Paper Rex hype train as they’ve persevered in some of the best matches of the tournament.
The unstoppable force of Paper Rex will now go up against the immovable object of Wolves Esports.
Only one will be left standing and proceed to the Grand Final of VCT Masters Toronto.
Set to take place on Friday, June 20th at 5pm BST.
Wolves playstyle is like water, we are so flexible that it doesn’t matter which team we face.
Pong ‘SiuFatBB’ Ka-hei, Wolves Esports in-game leader
I trust my team. [If we] keep going round-by-round, step-by-step, then it’s all good for me.
Fnatic fights for survival against Sentinels
Elsewhere at VCT Masters Toronto, EMEA’s last hope, Fnatic, are set to take on the Americas’ Sentinels in the lower bracket.
Both teams are fighting for their survival in the competition, having been knocked down despite being some of the tournament favourites.
The last time they faced each other, it was Sentinels that emerged victorious.
The team has a good record against Fnatic, having won three out of four matches against them.
They’ll face off once again later today at 8pm BST.
