Wolves Esports defies the odds at VCT Masters Toronto and proceed to Playoffs

Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Masters Toronto closed out its Swiss Stage with some explosive matches, as teams fought for the last places in the playoffs

Owned by the British football team, Wolves Esports became the main characters of a Cinderella run after defeating China’s second seed, Bilibili Gaming.

The third seed from China, shattered expectations to move on to the Playoffs Stage, where they’ll face Pacific’s first seed, Rex Regum Qeon.

Wolves Esports breaks curse to defeat Bilibili Gaming

Wolves Esports entered VCT Masters Toronto as the third seed after losing to the aforementioned Bilibili Gaming in VCT China Stage 1 Playoffs.

Historically, the team has a poor track record against the fellow Chinese team, having only won 3 out of 9 total matches against them.

Not letting this deter them, Wolves Esports would press on in their Cinderella run of the Swiss Stage.

Having previously taken on the likes of Sentinels and Team Heretics.

Starting out on Ascent, it was Bilibili Gaming to take the lead despite losing the pistol round to Wolves Esports.

The map quickly became too close to call as the teams traded blow for blow in an exchange of rounds.

Wolves Esports would eventually build a lead for themselves after going thrifty in round 7.

Remarkably, on a map which Bilibili Gaming picked, Wolves Esports wouldn’t drop a single round in the second half.

Wolves Esports player Liu ‘Spring’ Chun-ting would ultimately be the executioner of Bilibili Gaming after securing a 4k to deny the plant in round 16.

Wolves Esports would go on to take the first map of the series, 13-5 and in strong contention to take their chosen map, Split.

Opposed to Team Liquid vs Paper Rex, Split became an attack-sided map as both teams were keen to take control of the game.

The game began to fall apart for Bilibili Gaming when Wolves Esports capitalised on their economic advantage.

The game was over for Bilibili Gaming after Tyler ‘juicy’ Aeria found the position to spray down anything moving to secure the round for Wolves Esports.

Wolves Esports would eventually take the match 13-10 and the series, securing their place in the Playoffs Stage.
