It’s been almost a week since the launch of Nintendo’s highly anticipated follow-up to the Switch.
Creatively named the Switch 2, the new console and handheld hybrid boasted greater performance than before and improved the major weaknesses of its predecessor.
Now that the Switch 2 is out in the wild, players were quick to find funny and unique ways to enjoy the console.
Switch 2 features upgraded hardware
The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a custom-made NVIDIA Ampere GPU, which provides 10x the graphical performance of the original, according to Nintendo.
The new GPU also now allows for HDR and 4K for supported display devices, with the ability to display 60 FPS in its handheld form.
Nintendo fans can finally rejoice as the Switch 2 now supports a high frame rate.
Pokémon Scarlet/Violet players were quick to test the new hardware in some of the game’s most infamous performance areas.
Many, including streamer LetsJays, were in awe of the new performance on offer, as if a whole new world had been unlocked.
Speedrunners were also quick to utilise the greater performance levels to shatter previous records.
Meanwhile, content creator JerryRigEverything was equally quick to test the Switch 2’s physical hardware.
Pushing the console to the limit to discover how durable it is, so that consumers wouldn’t have to.
After rigorous testing that would cause anyone desiring the console to cry, the Switch 2 passed the test with only cosmetic damage.
Others took to tearing the Switch 2 apart completely to rate the level of skill required to fix the device if anything went wrong.
Unfortunately for consumers, but perhaps unsurprisingly, the Switch 2 is difficult for casual consumers to repair due to its complexity.
Although complex, some consumers have explored the newly added USB-C port to connect various cameras to the switch.
The new port was made specifically for the Switch 2’s official cameras, which included a Piranha Plant themed camera.
However, many were sad to find out that the plant would only reach up to 480p quality.
This eventually led to some more creative methods to get the maximum quality video on the Switch 2.
Switch 2 launch titles
It was announced by Nintendo that there would only be two launch titles to be released alongside the console.
One of which was the Switch 2 Welcome Tour, similar to PlayStation’s Astro’s Playroom, which came with the console when it came out.
However, this tech demo was released at the price of £8.
Not the highest of price tags, but something that annoyed consumers just from the concept alone.
Those who bit the bullet were surprised by some of the unexpected quirks whilst playing.
The real launch title for the Switch 2 was a new entry in the much-loved Mario Kart series.
Mario Kart World reinvents the series with its free-roam concept, and fans were keen to play the new game.
However, its release was met with an unexpected error message which read: “Error Code: 2813-0171… This product hasn’t been released yet. Try again on or after the release date.”
Once that odd issue was resolved, players soon terrorised each other in some fun and unique ways.
One of the first trends to emerge was playing as the cow character which first appeared in Mario Kart Wii on the Moo Moo Meadows track.
The original track was a fan favourite and likely one of the reasons behind the trend taking off.
Switch 2 FOMO
Of course, with the console being in high demand, the Switch 2 flew off the shelves and left many wanting the latest Nintendo console.
In desperation to get their hands on the new console, some took to social media to suggest other methods to get the Switch 2.
