EA Sports, alongside British-based developers Codemasters and Formula 1 (F1), have unveiled the ‘Driver Ratings’ for F1 25 ahead of the game’s release later this month on Friday, May 30th.
What are Driver Ratings?
Similar to other EA Sports titles, the Driver Ratings will affect how the in-game AI will perform, especially during the ‘My Team’ game mode.
EA Sports explained how the Driver Ratings are determined in a blog post, stating, “Combining historical sporting data, recent performances, and consultation from TV commentators and pundits”.
Further elaborating, “Despite these Driver Ratings [being] set in stone for the launch of F1 25, they will be updated periodically throughout the year, dynamically changing based on real–world performance.”
EA Sports, in partnership with F1 owners, Liberty Media, has also released a video of the F1 drivers reacting to their and other drivers’ scores.
British Driver Ratings
The driver ratings of the British F1 drivers are as follows:
- Lando Norris (McLaren) – 91
- George Russell (Mercedes) – 90
- Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) – 89
- Alexander Albon (Williams) – 83
- Oliver Bearman (Haas) – 74
Other drivers of note
Of course, there are other non-British drivers in F1 with some notable ratings being:
- Max Verstappen (Red Bull) – 95
- Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) – 91
- Carlos Sainz Jr. (Williams) – 90
- Oscar Piastri (McLaren) – 87
- Yuki Tsunoda (Red Bull) – 82
- Liam Lawson (RB) – 80
- Jack Doohan (Alpine) – 73
- Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) – 72
- Isack Hadjar (RB) – 68
The full in-depth list of Driver Ratings has been shared on the EA Sports website.
Potential updates before the game’s launch
As mentioned in their announcement, these Driver Ratings will be updated for the foreseeable future as the F1 season continues.
However, it was recently announced that Franco Colapinto will replace Jack Doohan at Alpine.
The announcement came just a day before the F1 25 Driver Ratings, which may leave Codemasters scrambling to update the game with the proper assets of the Argentinian driver.
On the other hand, the British developers might stick to the original plan, since Colapinto is set to drive for only five races amidst an imploding Alpine.
