LOUD and Keyd Stars exit Counter-Strike as Brazil cracks down on betting

LOUD and Keyd Stars have both pulled out of Counter-Strike 2 after Brazil’s federal government moved against online betting, Dust2.us reports. According to the Associated Press, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s restrictions are aimed at curbing gambling addiction and reportedly cover 506 websites. The measures are already reshaping how Brazilian CS2 teams are funded.
EstrelaBet backing leaves Keyd Stars without a CS2 case
For Keyd Stars, the problem is sponsorship. The org was backed by EstrelaBet, and with the new sanctions in force it can no longer justify running a CS2 team, according to Dust2.us. LOUD reached the same end point by a different route. Its roster had not yet been announced when the restrictions landed, and that line-up has now lost its org backing before it played a match under the LOUD banner.
Players and staff are the first to feel it. Coach Pablo “disturbed” Fernandes used social media to confirm that he is now a free agent, adding a pointed aside in brackets:
I’m coming to announce that I’m FA and without a contractual tie (thanks to our president).
The swipe is aimed squarely at Lula. It is also a reminder of how quickly a policy decision in Brasília can empty a roster sheet.
MIBR, FURIA and Fluxo W7M strip betting sponsors from team channels
The fallout is not limited to the two orgs that have walked away. The Esports Radar reports that MIBR, Fluxo W7M and FURIA have already adjusted to the new rules by removing betting sponsors from some or all of their team communications. That keeps them competing while trimming the exposure that the restrictions target.
Not everyone has followed suit. Legacy are still displaying Rainbet, and Imperial continue to carry Gamdom, according to the same report. Whether those partnerships can survive the new regime has not been addressed by either org in the material available.
Dust2 Brasil cancels remaining BetBoom Storm events
The crackdown has reached the tournament calendar as well. Dust2 Brasil has called off its remaining BetBoom Storm events, saying only that the decision was taken “due to circumstances beyond the control of the parties involved.” No replacement dates or alternative events were mentioned.
The tally so far is stark. Two orgs have left CS2, three of the country’s best-known teams have reworked their sponsor messaging, two more are still showing gambling brands, and a betting-branded event series has been scrapped. At least one coach, disturbed, is back on the market.
