FaZe lost their opening series at Stake Ranked Episode 4 to Nemiga on 1 October, going down 2-0 in a match that stayed close but slipped away from them on both maps. Dust2.us reports that the defeat leaves FaZe with a record of 1-8 on maps across their last four matches, as they push for a place at the PGL Singapore Major.
HLTV also reports that FaZe and Astralis are both facing elimination after the first day of the event. According to HLTV, the loss hurts FaZe’s Major chances all the more because it came against one of their rivals for an invite.
FaZe’s 12-8 lead on Mirage slips away
Mirage was the one FaZe will regret most. They opened on the CT side with a 9-3 run and later led 12-8 after switching to T. They did not win another round. Nemiga took the next four to force overtime and kept going, extending the streak to eight rounds to take the map in extra time. Dust2.us credits Kirill “Xant3r” Kononov with 26 kills and a 1.51 rating on Mirage, the best figures on the map.
Xant3r’s late 2k settles Ancient 13-11
Ancient began well for FaZe too, with a 3-0 start on the CT side. Nemiga answered by winning seven of the next eight rounds, and FaZe went into the half two rounds behind despite clawing a few back. After the swap, Nemiga won their CT pistol and the two rounds that followed to reach double figures first. FaZe replied with three straight rounds before Nemiga took two more to lead 12-8.
FaZe then got within touching distance of overtime. In round 24, a 2k from Xant3r broke up a FaZe push through mid, and Nemiga closed the map 13-11. Nikita “robo” Dushin top-fragged Ancient with 23 kills and a 1.43 rating, according to Dust2.us.
Across the series, robo led all players with 43 kills, while Xant3r and Daniel “syph0” Ageyev both finished with a 1.25 rating. For FaZe, Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken was the only player with a positive kill-death differential, going 39-36 for a 1.12 rating. Ryan “Neityu” Aubry and Jason “JBOEN” Boe Nielsen both rated 0.91. David “frozen” Čerňanský rated 0.81, and Jakub “jcobbb” Pietruszewski finished bottom of the scoreboard at 32-40 with a 0.80 rating.
There is now no margin left. FaZe drop into the lower bracket, where they meet Astralis on 2 October. Astralis also lost their opener on day one, according to HLTV, so the loser of that match is out and one of the two sides will end its Singapore Major push early.
