Luminosity book Logitech G Play Connect playoffs spot with 3-2 finals day

Luminosity have secured a spot in the playoffs at Logitech G Play Connect after finishing the Bo1 group stage with a 3-2 record, according to Dust2.us. The run included a decisive win over Ninjas in Pyjamas that settled a three-way scrap for the final qualifying slot.

The day started poorly for the organisation. Luminosity dropped their opener 13-7 to GamerLegion on Nuke, then bounced back with a 13-9 win over Metizport on Mirage. A tight 11-13 loss to group leaders B8 on Dust2 followed, before Luminosity closed out with a commanding 13-4 win over M80 on Ancient and a nervy 13-11 win over NIP, also on Ancient.

That final result against NIP proved decisive. Without it, Dust2.us reports there would have been a three-way tie between Luminosity, NIP and GamerLegion for the remaining playoffs place, one that NIP would have won. HLTV reports that Liquid and NIP have both been eliminated as the Play Connect field moves into its knockout stage, confirming NIP’s exit from the Polish LAN.

The result continues a turnaround for Luminosity, who have struggled since moving into Counter-Strike 2 but arrive on the back of a second-place finish at Roman Imperium Cup VIII. Aleks ‘Rainwaker’ Petrov, formerly of Liquid, posted a 1.22 rating across the five maps, while Aurélien ‘afro’ Drapier backed him up with a 1.19 rating over the same stretch.

Luminosity’s roster on the day featured Oscar ‘AZUWU’ Bell, Rainwaker, Simon ‘yxngstxr’ Boije, afro and Lucas ‘lux’ Meneghini. NIP fielded Adam ‘adamb’ Ångström, Martin ‘stavn’ Lund, Kacper ‘xKacpersky’ Gabara, Karim ‘Krimbo’ Moussa and Rasmus ‘sjuush’ Beck in the loss.

Luminosity return to action in the Logitech G Play Connect playoffs on 19 September.
