CS2 at EWC 2026 Playoff predictions: Who will win?

Following a Group Stage packed with upsets, attention turns to Counter-Strike 2 at the Esports World Cup (EWC). Taking place from August 19th to 23rd, the tournament will feature the remaining 16 teams fighting for a chance to win the lion’s share of a huge $2 million prize pool. 

A one-sided bracket makes this tournament even harder to predict. With three of the world’s best rosters fighting for a Grand Final place, the stage is set for a highly competitive event. Before teams take to the server, we break down the bracket and see who has a shot at global glory.

Huge opportunity for dark horses

While the juggernauts battle on one side of the bracket, the door is open for several dark horses. After navigating their way through the Group Stage, the trio of G2 Esports, GamerLegion, and FUT Esports have a chance to sneak their way into the Grand Final. 

G2 takes on Astralis in the Round of 16 after besting M80 and BIG in Group A. Despite BIG giving the European side a scare, a 13–1 Inferno masterclass put any doubts to rest. Priced at 1/2 (1.5) across the CS betting sites, the G2 Army has a 66.7% implied probability of marching on to the next round.

GamerLegion was the highlight of Group A, dominating Luminosity Gaming and JiJieHao to secure its Playoff place. Although MOUZ is a tough opponent, GL has the experience required to advance to the Quarterfinals. Odds of 3/1 (4.0) put GamerLegion among the underdogs, but the team should not be counted out. 

Having defeated MOUZ in Group C, FUT Esports looks like another dark horse, especially at 2/5 (1.4), which implies a 71.4% probability of advancing. An incredible Deagle ace from xfl0ud, backed by an impressive 1.50 rating, proved the difference. A best-of-three against magic is arguably the most favourable match in the entire bracket.

Can Team Vitality return to form?

Team Vitality’s road to the Playoffs proved harder than many expected. Victory over 100 Thieves was followed by a 2–1 defeat to B8, putting the once-dominant roster on the verge of elimination. 

The French organisation bounced back with a comfortable 2–0 sweep over Lynn Vision Gaming, with ZywOo ending the series with a whopping 140 ADR. Standing in Vitality’s way in the Round of 16 is a revitalised FaZe Clan. 

A price of 2/7 (1.29) and a 77.8% implied probability of advancing against the Red Militia point towards Vitality progressing through the stacked side of the bracket, where a potential clash against Team Spirit awaits.

FURIA’s golden chance

FURIA finds itself on the favourable side of the bracket, with a chance to finally lift a trophy in 2026. Wins over Wildcard and 9z were enough to complete a comfortable run through Group D, with KSCERATO excelling with a rifle in hand.

Aurora Gaming stands in the way of a place in the Quarterfinals. While the majority-Turkish roster struggled against BIG, it dominated the Group A Lower bracket to move to the main event.

Odds of 4/9 (1.44) and 69.2% implied probability already establish FURIA as the favourites in what could be the most competitive match of the Round of 16.

The ultimate test for Team Falcons

Team Falcons is yet to concede a map at this year’s Esports World Cup. A phenomenal 1.52 rating from NiKo in a convincing 2–0 sweep of Astralis has built the momentum needed for a run through one of the toughest brackets in the entire tournament.

The gauntlet begins with a best-of-three against defending EWC champions The MongolZ. Odds are stacked against the Mongolians, with Falcons priced at 2/9 (1.22), giving them an 81.8% implied probability of making it to the next round for a battle against either Legacy or NAVI. 

Winning EWC is not only good for Team Falcons’ defence of its Club Championship. Making it through the tougher side of the bracket would also demonstrate the resilience and quality needed to establish an era in CS2 esports.

Who will win CS2 at EWC 2026?

Even with a heavily weighted bracket, the single-elimination format is a true test of what a team is made of. With such a high calibre of team on the bottom side, Team Falcons still has an excellent chance of taking outright victory. 

Karrigan’s T-side leadership, alongside NiKo hitting his stride once more, appears to have finally turned things around for a team that used to crumble under pressure. Although possible battles against NAVI, Team Spirit, or Team Vitality await, Team Falcons knows what’s required to lift another Tier 1 trophy.
