UK Counter-Strike goes viral with infamous clip – Game’s creator responds

UK Counter-Strike

The UK Counter-Strike scene was on cloud nine when William ‘mezii’ Merriman won the BLAST.tv Austin Major, but it was brought back to earth when a clip of the UKIC Season 7 Masters qualifiers went viral.

The clip shows Richard ‘log1ks’ Bohunský of British mix ‘The Dominion’ as he groups up with his team to go to A site of Nuke through squeaky door. log1ks accidentally kills two of his teammates with a wayward MAC-10 engagement, leaving his team in a 2v4 in the final round of regulation, condemning them to a 13-11 loss against 8Sins.

Sadly, log1ks even killed his second teammate after Dutchy, the player he was aiming at, was already dead. To make matters worse, he didn’t even get the assist…

UK Counter-Strike viral again for the wrong reasons

The clip spread like wildfire on social media, raking up over 500,000 views on popular Counter-Strike X accounts CS2Universe and Ozzny_CS2. The clip then received the YouTube treatment from popular Counter-Strike content creator Philip ‘3kliksphilip’ Dyer, who entitled his video on the matter “The Best CS2 Video Yet“.

Still, if there’s one positive for UK CS’s reputation, it’s that log1ks is Slovakian. If there’s one negative to that positive, it’s that log1ks has a higher FACEIT rating than all of his British teammates while only being 17.

log1ks was competing in the UKIC Season 7 Masters qualifiers, the new qualifying system for the top division of UKIC following restructuring to make it VRS eligible. The new mix features UK scene veterans such as ex-Endpoint and Reason Gaming player Alex ‘Byfield’ Byfield and former ROYALS player Andrei ‘waZz’ Corneliu Lipoșteanu, but the team will have to play further qualifiers if they hope to compete in the Masters division.

The good news is that the young prospect seems to be fully embracing his newfound infamy, posting memes about the incident and updating his Twitter/X bio to say “Yes, I am the one with MAC-10 on Nuke…”

Counter-Strike’s creator reacts

Counter-Strike creator, Minh ‘Gooseman’ Le replied to 3kliksphilip’s video on X, posting, “it’s nice to know there’s someone else that played nuke worse than I did during the showmatch.”

Gooseman, a Vietnamese-Canadian, was part of Team USA in the showmatch before the BLAST.tv Austin Major Grand Final. He put up a respectable 9-17 scoreline, making him far from the bottom-fragger on the server, which was Mark ‘ohnepixel’ Zimmerman, who went 4-20 on the ‘Stream Team’. The German skins streamer dropped only 24 ADR.
